The former Crvena zvezda guard says consistency and routine are the foundation of Olympiacos’ success

After spending the last two seasons with Crvena zvezda, Codi Miller-McIntyre has officially joined reigning EuroLeague champions Olympiacos this summer.

In an interview with Meridian Sport, the American guard explained why he believes the Reds’ long-established system is one of the biggest reasons behind their sustained success.

I’m someone who loves routines. If you have the right formula or system, stick with it and keep improving. All my friends know exactly what I’m doing at any point of the day because I’m very consistent,” Miller-McIntyre told Meridian Sport.

Having played against Olympiacos over the past two seasons, Miller-McIntyre believes the club’s consistency is what separates it from the rest.

There’s a reason I’ve always played well against Olympiacos — because they follow the same system all the time. That’s the key to a long season. If you’re constantly adjusting for every opponent, it’s very hard to build consistency. That’s why Olympiacos is always at the Final Four.

The 31-year-old revealed he has already started preparing for the transition by studying Olympiacos’ offensive principles.

I’ve already started going through some of their offensive sets with my trainer. I want to learn how to play within the system. That’s how you eliminate the mental fatigue that comes from constantly changing based on scouting reports.

Miller-McIntyre also commented on Panathinaikos‘ ambitious offseason, highlighted by the arrivals of Željko Obradović and Isaac Bonga after facing both during his time in Belgrade.

I followed it a little, but it’s just another coach and another player. I’m not Greek, so it’s not personal for me. I don’t think about a specific team, player or coach because that would affect me. I look at everyone the same way — and while I do that, I just want to win.”
