Barcelona found its new point guard in Paris Basketball’s standout Justin Robinson.

Per the press release: FC Barcelona and the 28-year-old and 1.85-meter-tall Justin Robinson have reached a contractual agreement until June 30, 2028. The American point guard arrives at Can Barça after having shone in his first season in the Euroleague with Paris Basketball. In addition to the French league, he has experience in the NBA and a brief stint with Breogán in the ACB in 2024, as well as in the leagues of Australia, Italy, and France.

“It is an honor to have the opportunity to play for an incredible and prestigious club like Barça. I am very grateful and very happy,” he said in statements to the Club’s media after passing the medical examination.

The point guard, born in Manassas, Virginia, on October 12, 1997, arrives at the Palau Blaugrana as the game director, providing game vision and speed in decision-making. He is an electric point guard, with daring in the outside shot and also when it comes to breaking the defense and going to the basket.

He considers himself a “winner” but, above all, “a leader on and off the field.” “I want to continue being myself, be consistent, contribute in attack and defense, and do whatever the team needs to win.”

And he also highlighted the magnitude of Barça: “Playing for a great club like this, in my second year in the Euroleague, is a great emotion for my family and me. I want to embrace the culture and everything that being part of FC Barcelona implies. Culers, I’m here!”

After growing up playing at Montrose Christian School and Saint James School in the state of Maryland, he finished his training in the NCAA between 2015 and 2019, playing four years and a total of 125 games with Virginia Tech (11.5 points and 4.4 assists on average).

Between 2019 and 2022, he combined the summer leagues and the G-League with several opportunities in the NBA, playing up to 68 games with six different teams: the Washington Wizards, the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Milwaukee Bucks, the Sacramento Kings, and the Detroit Pistons.

In 2022, he decided to try to consolidate his career abroad, starting with the Illawarra Hawks of the Australian league. At the beginning of his first season outside the United States, he suffered a serious injury and was unable to play until the following 23/24 season, completing 12 points and 4.4 assists in 33 games played.

He finished the season crossing the world to land at Breogán in March and thus obtained his first European experience. He played nine games and had a key performance in the permanence of the Galician team (9.3 points and 2.4 assists).

From the ACB, he moved to the Italian league to play for the Trapani Sharks. In Italy, he demonstrated his high level, with a balance of 14.4 points, three rebounds, six assists per game, and a rating of 18. He was the MVP of November and finished the year as part of the best starting five of the competition.

His good performance in Italy allowed him to make the jump to a Euroleague team. With Paris, he made his debut in the top continental competition with a balance of 14.6 points, 4.5 assists, and 14.4 rating in 36 games. And he has starred in great performances, such as the 35 points and 39 rating on the court against Olympiacos in November or the 25 points, six assists, and 35 rating that allowed him to be the MVP of matchday 37.

In the French league, in which he was a finalist, he has registered 13 points, 4.1 assists, and a 9.7 rating in 24 games played.
