Xavi Pascual has officially left Barcelona after activating the release clause in his contract, bringing an end to his second spell with the Catalan club.
The 52-year-old coach, whose deal ran through 2028, departs after taking charge of Barcelona again on November 17, 2025. During his second stint, he coached 68 games across all competitions, including 37 in the Liga Endesa, 29 in the EuroLeague and two in the Copa del Rey.
Shortly after confirming his departure, Dubai officially announced Pascual as its new head coach.
“One of European basketball’s most respected coaches is coming to Dubai. A proven winner. Welcome to Dubai Basketball, Head Coach Xavi Pascual,” the club wrote on social media.
Pascual replaces Aleksander Sekulic, who has reached an agreement to become Barcelona’s next head coach.
Assistant coach Iñigo Zorzano, who returned to Barcelona alongside Pascual, will also leave the club.
In its farewell statement, Barcelona thanked Pascual and Zorzano for their commitment and dedication, adding that “Xavi Pascual will always be welcome at the Palau Blaugrana.“
