Besiktas have officially announced the departure of Matt Thomas by mutual agreement as the Turkish club continues its offseason roster overhaul.
The American shooter joined Besiktas midway through the 2025–26 season after leaving Spanish side Coviran Granada, signing for the remainder of the campaign.
Thomas appeared in three EuroCup games for the Black Eagles, averaging 5.3 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.0 assist, while posting 8.2 points and 2.5 rebounds per game in the Turkish Basketball Super League.
Before arriving in Istanbul, the former NBA guard averaged 14.6 points for Granada in Liga Endesa, shooting 46.2% from three-point range.
The 32-year-old has previously suited up in the EuroLeague for ALBA Berlin and Panathinaikos, and won the 2019 EuroCup with Valencia. He also spent time in the NBA with the Toronto Raptors, Utah Jazz and Chicago Bulls.
Besiktas are preparing for their first EuroLeague campaign since the 2012–13 season and continue to reshape their squad ahead of the 2026–27 campaign.
