ASVEL didn’t even have the chance to say goodbye to Sylvain Francisco, and he is already in his new home.
Panathinaikos officially announced the deal with the French guard.
Per the press release: Sylvain Francisco was born on October 10, 1997, in Créteil, France. Standing at 1.85m, he plays at the guard positions. During the 2025-26 EuroLeague season with Zalgiris Kaunas, he appeared in 42 games, averaging 16.5 points, 2.9 rebounds and 6.5 assists in 27:47 minutes per game. He was selected to the All-EuroLeague First Team, while also leading the Lithuanian club to the national championship and earning Finals MVP honors for the second consecutive year.
He began his basketball journey in the youth academies of Paris Basket Racing, Villemomble Sports and AL Roche-la-Molière. In 2014, he moved to Florida, USA, where he attended Elev8 Sports Institute, Liberty Christian Preparatory School and West Oaks Academy before returning to France to begin his professional career.
In 2017, he joined Levallois Metropolitans, signing his first professional contract. A year later, he moved to Paris Basketball, where he played for two seasons, before joining Chorale Roanne in France’s top division in 2020.
In the summer of 2021, he signed with Spain’s BAXI Manresa. One year later, he transferred to Peristeri, where he delivered outstanding performances in both domestic and European competitions. In the Greek League, he averaged 12.6 points, 2.9 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game, while in the Basketball Champions League he posted 16.2 points, 2.1 rebounds and 5.8 assists per contest.
In the summer of 2023, Francisco joined Bayern Munich. During his first EuroLeague season, he appeared in 33 games, averaging 10.6 points, 1.7 rebounds and 3.2 assists in 19:17 minutes per game. He also helped Bayern win the 2024 German Cup and was named MVP of the competition’s Final Four.
In 2024, he signed with Zalgiris Kaunas. During the 2024-25 EuroLeague season, he played in 34 games, averaging 14.6 points, 2.6 rebounds and 4.5 assists in 25:29 minutes per game. He led his team to the Lithuanian League and Lithuanian Cup titles in 2025, while also being named MVP of the league finals.
At the international level, Francisco is also a member of the French National Team. In the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 European Qualifiers, he has averaged 13.7 points, 2 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals per game, while shooting 53.8% from two-point range, 50% from three-point range and 83.3% from the free-throw line.
