Kosner Baskonia is actively pursuing the signature of Cameroonian center Christian Koloko to reinforce its frontcourt. According to a report published by Spanish outlet El Correo on Monday, the EuroLeague club has extended a contract offer to the 26-year-old big to help turn around a tough start to their 2026–27 continental campaign.
The team based in Vitoria-Gasteiz launched the bid to fill a major interior gap. Standing 2.12 meters – 6’11” – tall, the Babouantou native is known for his presence near the rim and defensive focus.
Drafted into the NBA as the 33rd overall pick in 2022 out of Arizona, he has appeared in 122 NBA games, spending time with the Toronto Raptors, Los Angeles Lakers, Memphis Grizzlies, and Atlanta Hawks. He had joined the New Orleans Pelicans for training camp before being waived prior to the Regular Season, as recently reported by HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto.
Securing Koloko is now a priority for head coach Paolo Galbiati. While Baskonia is performing well at 3–0 in the Liga Endesa Regular Season, they are struggling in Europe, sitting in a seven-way tie at the bottom of the EuroLeague standings with a 1–3 record.
If the agreement goes through, Koloko’s citizenship will give him domestic status under the Cotonou Agreement. This allows Baskonia to register him as a local player in the domestic league, offering valuable roster flexibility.
On the FIBA stage, the center has already made three appearances for Cameroon during the FIBA World Cup 2027 Qualifiers.
