NBA veteran John Konchar has signed with Olympiacos for the next two seasons, as the club has officially announced, while Tyler Dorsey will be off the roster for one month after his comments on social media.
Standing at 1.96 meters, 30-year-0ld Konchar brings a team-first mentality and unique heritage, tracing roots to Czechia, Hungary, and Serbia, qualities that made Olympiacos focus on him.
Although he went undrafted in 2019, the former perdue standout built a solid NBA career, making 381 appearances over nearly seven seasons. He spent most of his career as a reliable role player for the Memphis Grizzlies before a brief stint with the Utah Jazz.
Dorsey was already out of the team for one game after commenting on a social media post about his role with the team.
It’s still unclear if, after the end of this period, he will be back on the team after the addition of Konchar.
However, Konchar is already the 10th foreign player on Olympiacos ‘ roster, and while there are no rules about the nationality of the players in the EuroLeague, in the Greek league, only eight non-Greek players can be registered, and only six of them can be used on game day.
Dorsey is Greek-American, has won a bronze medal in the recent EuroBasket with the Greek national team, and he is considered a local in the Greek domestic league.
