Fenerbahce improved to a 3-2 record after taking down Valencia (3-2) in Istanbul.

Fenerbahce Dogus Istanbul prevailed over Valencia Basket at home with 79-66 in what ended up being one more day in the office for them, despite the effort of the Spanish team.

The first period was a scoring crescendo for both sides. Despite the hosts being up with 18-12 at 4′, the Spanish side with a short run in the following minutes while the score after 10 minutes was 20-18.

Fenerbahce‘s team effort was decisive in the second period when Brad Wanamaker (10 points) pushed the score to 31-22 midway through it. By halftime, the Turkish side had managed to keep Valencia down with 38-30.

Despite the visiting side’s energy in the second half, James Nunnally (13 points) took charge for Fener and paced his team with a 57-49 lead after 30 minutes.

A three-pointer by Doornekamp helped the Spanish side approach to 5 points at 34′ (59-54). Another three followed by San Emeterio (11 points), as Valencia tried to come back to the game.

Τurning point: In the two remaining minutes of the game, Jan Vesely sent the deficit to double-digits for the first time in the game (72-62 at 39′), which helped Fenerbahce seal the win.

The star: Datome finished the game with 16 points and two rebounds, in a career-highlighting night.
