Zalgiris Kaunas is the darling Cinderella of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague, but in Belgrade, they were the victim of another feisty underdog.

Thanks to a 10-0 run in the middle of the last quarter, Zvezda got a 60-50 lead and kept it until the final 77-65. It was a close contest until the 32nd minute when the score was tied at 50 but Zalgiris Kaunas couldn’t react in the last five minutes of the game after the hosts’ crescendo.

The key: Dejan Davidovac is developing his reputation as the guy who comes out of nowhere and makes big shots. He got two threes in 10-0 run and one more after that, finishing the game with 13 points and 3/3 shots from beyond the arc.

The star: Taylor Rochestie is “the man” for Zvezda and proved it again, finishing the night with 16 points and 10 assists. He is reborn in Serbia and he made Zalgiris pay.

On the other hand, Kevin Pangos had also a good game with 19 points and 7 rebounds, but he only dished 3 assists and made 4 turnovers. Zvezda’s defense found the way to contain him and that was the key for the winners. In total Zalgiris had 13 assists which were more than few, especially if you take into account the fact that they also had 17 turnovers. Despite that, they remained in the game until the end of the third quarter.

Paulius Jankunas with 10 points also tried his best for the guests but it was not enough. Newcomer Dylan Ennis added 12 points for the hosts, making 7/8 free throws.
