Bertans led Armani to a road win against Bamberg

The Italian side conquered the Freak City thanks to Dairis Bertans perfomance in the crucial moments.

In a clash between two teams that are out of the playoffs picture, it was AX Armani Exchange Olimpia Milan that prevailed over Brose Bamberg 83-78 on the road on Day 29 of Turkish Airlines EuroLeague.

Dairis Bertans was struggling most of the time, but with two straight three-pointers late in the fourth quarter, he pushed Armani to a 77-73 lead with four minutes left in the game. The Latvian scored eight points and all of them were in the last period. After it the was no road back for Bamberg as Olimpia took the win.

With this win, Armani ended Bamberg’s five games winning streak at home and also bounced back from three straight defeats.

Despite a hot start by Armani that forced coach Luca Banchi to call a time-out after only three minutes of the game. The visitors were off to a good start with a 10-2 run. Armani’s triples were falling in the first quarter as they made 5 out 7 attempts scoring 28 points in the first quarter building a five points lead (28-23). In the second quarter, the German squad bounced back and eventually tied the game. The two teams were tied at 43 after the first half.

However, in the crucial moments, the Italians were ready to go all the way and win the game. Amath M’Baye had game-high for Armani with 13 points while Vladimir Micov, Andrea Cincarini and Arturas Gudaitis all scored 12.

Daniel Hackett had game-high with 17 points, but couldn’t prevent the loss.

With this win, Armani moved up to a 10-19 record while Bamberg is standing on an 11-18.
