Zalgiris Kaunas sealed off a dream season in EuroLeague with an intense 79-77  win over CSKA Moscow in the third-place game of the Final Four!

The Lithuanian team, that exceeded all expectations this season and returned to the biggest European basketball meeting after 19 long years, used team effort and determination against former champions CSKA.

Despite being down with double-digit deficits throughout the game, the Russians attempted a huge comeback in the final period of the game, with Mikhail Kulagin carrying his team in the last couple of minutes. The Moscow side’s 29-10 run wasn’t enough to finish off the game though, leading Zalgiris to the win.

Captain Paulius Jankunas tapped 15 points, same as Vasilije Micic, while Edgaras Ulanovas followed with 14 points.

Kulagin, who took the big shot for CSKA and missed with 2.7 seconds remaining in the game, finished with 14 points, same as Othello Hunter.
