Despite the numerous reports about advanced negotiations between James Nunnally and Panathinaikos, the situation was quite different according to Bill Neff, the agent of the former EuroLeague champion.
Neff sent to Eurohoops the following written statement on the matter.
“It has been suggested that my player, James Nunnally, was interested in the Panathinaikos job. Rick Pitino called me to express his interest. I knew their budget and their goals. Neither were going to match James’s ambitions so our conversation was cordial but brief. I wish them well.”

The player himself via twitter clarified that there were never any negotiations with Panathinaikos.
