Barcelona head coach Svetislav Pesic commented on the performance of Blaugrana guard Thomas Heurtel in the win of the team over Panathinaikos.

“The point guard is always the leader. The coach is always the leader. This is normal. If the player who plays in this position (point guard),  doesn’t lead a group, then he better not play basketball,” Pesic said when asked about Heurtel’s outing during the post-game presser.

Heurtel finished the match with a season-high 23 points in 26 minutes. Two days ago he had scored 21 points in a road victory over Olimpia Milano.

Pesic was pleased that his team finished the double-game week with two wins that have improved them to 11-7. After straight years out of the Top 8, Barcelona looks playoffs bound this season.

“Of course, winning a EuroLeague game, everybody is happy. Like always, it is important how we won the game against a team with very aggressive defense that came wanting to win the game, which is normal. We kept calm, sticking to our concepts, knowing what we wanted to play in the crucial moments of the game, and this, of course, is very important.”
