The EuroLeague Head Coaches Board is gearing up for the first Euroleague Coaches Clinic which is going to be held on July in Badalona – for which you can sign up here – and coach Xavi Pascual, EuroLeague champion of 2010, gave a preview of things to come during the EuroLeague Final Four.

Speaking to the press conference held by the EuroLeague Head Coaches Board during the recent Final Four alongside the president of Joventut Badalona, Juan Antonio Morales, San Antonio Spurs assistant Ettore Messina and the board’s executive director, Goran Sasic, Pascual not only talked about the relationship between coaches and players but also about the changes in coaching that come with the new EuroLeague format.

“As coaches, we have the obligations to adjust to this and change things a bit”, said Pascual. “I remember at Barcelona usually we played our EuroLeague game on Thursday and then our domestic league game on Sunday. We had at least three days of preparation for each game. I could do a lot of things, tactical things. In the new competition, the most important thing for coaches is to know how many hours they have between each game and how many information their players can understand in order to use it in a natural way. So now, everything is different. When you have a double-game week, you only have one day”.

With the European landscape changing fast, coach Pascual is more than right and on the 5th of July at Badalona he will have the chance to pass part of his experience to other coaches in the 2019 EuroLeague Coaches Clinic.
