Gustavo Ayon penned a one-year contract with Zenit Saint-Petersburg, the Russian team announced on Friday. The 34-year-old big is set for his sixth EuroLeague campaign.

Ayon parted ways with Real Madrid at the beginning of the summer transfer period. He competed in EuroLeague with the Whites, winning the title in 2015 and 2018, and will remain part of Europe’s premier competition with Zenit.

The Mexican forward/center is coming off 31 EuroLeague appearances during his 2018-19 campaign with 8.3 points and 6 rebounds per contest. In a total of 110 EuroLeague games with Real he averaged 9.7 points, 5.8 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.3 steals.

With his new team, Ayon will play in the VTB United League for the first time. Up to the 2019-20 season, he displayed his talents only in the NBA, Spain and native Mexico.
