David Blatt wrote an open letter published by Olympiacos that addresses his health condition and the basketball world stood in support of the 60-year-old coach from the moment it was made public.

From EuroLeague, Maccabi Tel Aviv and Anadolu Efes, to EuroLeague Chairman and CEO Jordi Bertomeu and the EuroLeague Head Coaches Board a tidal wave of support awaited Blatt, who spoke about suffering from PPMS.

And the messages keep coming in.

Russian Basketball Federation President and former player of Blatt in the Russian NT Andrei Kirilenko stated:

“I read his open letter and, of course, if David needs any help either from the Federation or myself, we will offer it gladly. He knows he is forever welcome in every basketball corner, especially in Russia”.

At the same time, Russian internationals, also formerly coached by Blatt, sent their best wishes.

“In his open letter, he said everything right, with words that motivate in order to work hard and get over this disease. This shows once again the strength of Blatt’s character”, said Sergei Bykov to Izvestia.

Anton Ponkrashov mentioned: “Blatt is a special person for me and the history of Russian basketball in general. Back in the day, he taught us to be a team, to communicate and win as a team. And now comes the time when we have to stand next to him and his family. I will pray for him. I’m sure he will go through this with humility and everything will be fine. We trust in him.

Baskonia and Tornike Shengelia also sent their wishes to Olympiacos‘ coach:
