KIROLBET Baskonia’s captain was named MVP of EuroLeague Regular Season Round 4.

Tornike Shengelia went for a game-high and career-high 25 points leading KIROLBET Baskonia to the home win against Olympiacos and himself to the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Regular Season Round 4 MVP award. His 28 PIR was the highest among all players of Thursday’s and Friday’s games.

Per EuroLeague: “A career-best performance in a winning effort allowed Toko Shengelia to earn the Regular Season Round 4 MVP award with a PIR of 28. Shengelia led Baskonia to an 82-66 home win against Olympiacos Piraeus with a career-high 25 points, hitting 9-of-16 two-point shots, 2-of-6 from downtown and his only free throw attempt. He added 9 rebounds, 3 assists, a block and 4 fouls drawn to reach a PIR of 28. Bryant Dunston of Anadolu Efes Istanbul had a PIR of 27 in his team’s 76-60 home win against Real Madrid. Dunston had 17 points on 8-of-10 two-point shots, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals, a block and 2 fouls drawn. Arturas Gudaitis of AX Armani Exchange Milan amassed a PIR of 25 in his first EuroLeague game of the season. Gudaitis led Milan to an 87-74 home victory against Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul with 17 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, a block and 8 fouls drawn in just 21 minutes. Brandon Davies of FC Barcelona and Nick Calathes of Panathinaikos OPAP Athens, each with a PIR of 24, complete the top individual performances in Round 4.

Individual highs: Youssoupha Fall of Baskonia, 16 rebounds

Shengelia was also the top scorer in Round 4 with 25 points. Nando De Colo of Fenerbahce remains the competition’s top scorer at 23.0 points per game. Youssoupha Fall pulled down 16 rebounds against Olympiacos, tying the third-best mark in Baskonia’s EuroLeague history. Only Victor Alexander, (19, vs. Kinder Bologna in Game 1 of the 2001 Finals) and Mirza Teletovic (17, vs. Olympiacos on October 25, 2007) are ahead of him. Fall also tied the EuroLeague’s best rebounding mark this season – Nikola Milutinov had 16 boards against Zenit St Petersburg in Round 3. Milutinov ranks first in rebounds for the season at 12.5 per night. Nick Calathes dished 15 assists as Panathinaikos won at Zenit St Petersburg, a new EuroLeague season-high and tied for the fifth-best mark in competition history. He is tied for first place in assists with Vasilije Micic of Efes, each averaging 8.5 per game. Calathes, Lorenzo Brown of Crvena Zvezda mts Belgrade, Niels Giffey and Rokas Giedraitis of ALBA Berlin, Omri Casspi of Maccabi FOX Tel Aviv, Chris Singleton of Efes and Andrew Albicy of Zenit each collected 3 steals in Round 4. Micic leads the Regular Season standings at 2.3 steals per game. Davies and Ian Vougioukas of Panathinaikos each had 3 blocks in this round. Three players – Dunston, Fall and Davies – tie for first place overall at 1.8 per game. Tonye Jekiri of LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne – 10 points, 10 rebounds – recorded Round 4’s only double-double.”
