Aaron Jackson talked from the States to “Sport5” and explained his decision to sign with Maccabi FOX Tel Aviv and return to Europe from China.

As Jackson said, he feels that with Maccabi, he has a big chance to win the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague title and also coach Giannis Sfairopoulos on the bench of the team was also a factor: “I wanted to come to Maccabi since my first season with Bilbao. I had a great season and helped the team reach the Spanish League finals, and Maccabi was one of the teams that tried to convince me to sign, but things didn’t work out. Coach Giannis Sfairopoulos is demanding. He always had an interest in me, and before I went to China, he wanted me in Olympiakos. He contacted me personally, and when you get this from a coach, it means a lot. I told Milan and coach Ettore Messina that we had a lot of history together, but I thought Maccabi was my best chance to win the Final Four. That’s what I want to do; I want to win the EuroLeague. I wanted to come to a winning team. And Maccabi has so much history; it’s something special”.

And of course, on the court, Jackson is waiting to be paired up with Scottie Wilbekin: “So far I’ve watched four games, and every time I’ve seen Scottie do something special. It was like when I played with Milos Teodosic, and you see him doing something, and you realize he has it. It’s not about the things he works on; he just has it. Wilbekin does it a few times in Maccabi. I didn’t get to see the Israeli derby, but I watched the two Euroleague games after, and I realized he just has it. I have no ego. I will try to be aggressive and make life easier for Scottie”.
