AEK had many absences (Orton, Sakota and Carter) but prevailed easily over Efes 85-56 having in a great night Loukas Mavrokefalidis with 20 points and 10 rebounds.
The Greeks, who return after many years in the Eurocup competition, were impressive in their toughest preparation game so far. AEK took the lead since the start of the game and thanks to Mavrokefalidis (20p, 10 rebs), Hairston (15p) and Waren (12 points) prevailed.
The Turkish team had only Dario Saric in double digits (12p) and couldn’t cut AEK’s lead until the end. Diebler added 9 points and Brown 8.
Before the start of the game AEK honored Efes‘ coach, Dusan Ivkovic and its coach Dragan Sakota, coaches of the last four titles in AEK’s history in early ’00s.
