The Italian basketball federation, as it was reported during the Eurobasket, is now officially a candidate to host one of the three pre-olympic tournaments of 2016.
According to the press release: “The federal council approved the submission of the application of the Italian basketball federation to host in Turin one of the three Olympic qualifier groups in July 2016”.
Russia, Germany, Turkey and Poland among others are also interested in hosting one of the three tournament, but Italy is the first that announced its candidature
