Only a person with the wit and dry humor of coach Gregg Popovich would transform a usually dull first quarter interview into a touching moment and also to a critic of the NBA television coverage.
Facing fot the first time Graig Sager after the return of the experienced reporter on the sidelines, Popovich simultaneously slamed those kind of interviews and proved that he is a great guy. Using his own words: “I got to honestly tell you this is the first time I’ ve enjoyed doing this ridiculous interview we are required to do, because you are here and you are back with us… Now ask me a couple of inane questions”.
Popovich has made a trademark of his behavior being bordeline irritated by almost every reporter, however we have to note that at least when he was facing Greek journalists back in the 2009 preseason before the game of the Spurs against Olympiacos, he was one of the most pleasant guys you could ever meet. So it’s obvious that his usual stance is a deliberate critique – or he goes easy on those who are travelling half the globe in order to meet him…
