According to a report by “L’Equipe” the German and the ABA League champion are going to get a spot in the next season’s Euroleague and also a wildcard will be given, because there will be no qualification tournament.
So this means that the regular season of Euroleague will include the 11 teams which have signed a ten year contract (Real Madrid, Barcelona, Laboral Kutxa, Zalgiris Kaunas, Olympiacos, Panathinaikos, CSKA Moscow, Maccabi Tel Aviv, EA7 Milano, Anadolu Efes, Fenerbahce), the VTB champion or the finalist – if CSKA wins the title – the German and the ABA League champ, the Eurocup winner and a wildcard team.
According to Eurohoops sources, nothing has been finalized yet for the last three open spots, so the German league, the ABA League and the wildcard/ qualification round team are still not confirmed. However, this is a very probably scenario, which will mean that the only major basketball country in Europe without a team in Euroleague will be France.
