The championship number 27 is a fact for EA7 Milano thanks to road win over Reggio Emilia. The “Red Shoes” closed the Italian Legabasket finals with a total of 4-2 wins after prevailing 74-70.
A double score in the second period (18-9) in favor of Reggio Emilia gave them a 38-29 advantage, but it was not enough. Milano bounced back and entered the last two minutes of the game with a 68-61 advatage, still Reggio Emilia responded and made a three points game (71-68) with half a minute left. However, both Amadeo Della Vale and Pietro Aradori missed the three pointers which could have tied the game and Milano escaped with the win.
Alessandro Gentile led Milano’s offense with 16 points, Krunoslav Simon added 15 and 7 rebounds, while Rakim Sanders had 13 points and 5 assists and Esteban Batista was more than valuable with almost a double double (10 p., 9 r., 4 as.). Sanders was also named the MVP of the Italian Legabasket finals.
Rimantas Kaukenas once more was the top scorer of Reggio Emilia with 18 points, Della Vale had 13 points and Achille Polonara 12 points and 8 rebounds.
