In a battle between two strong Olympic medal contenders, the magnificent duo of Mathew Dellavedova (23 points, 13 assists) and Patty Mills (26 points) led the Australian team to a 95 – 80 victory against Serbia.

Miroslav Raduljica scored 25 points for Serbia producing 19 of them during the first half.  Milos Teodosic added 17 points, albeit with a 5/14 from the field.

The final difference written on the boxscore doesn’t exactly portray the true difference in the two teams’ performances, but draws an accurate picture of the Boomers’ impressive efficiency down the stretch.

The two teams walked side by side until the mid of the final quarter, when a 9 – 0 run gave Australia a six-point lead, 67  73. Sasa Djordjevic’s players were unable to even disturb their opponents’ action in offense, especially “Delly’s” creation and Mills’ shooting fiesta.

Joe Ingles then entered the equation, scoring five quick points for the 80 – 87 and banging the three-pointer that made it 80 – 92, sealing the final outcome.
