Almost three weeks before the beginning of the new Euroleague season, reigning champs CSKA Moscow proceeded to make an extra move to bolster their roster.

The Russian club announced that they signed 2014 NBA champion holder Jeff Ayres for a small term two-month contract and bringing to Europe for the first time in his career.

Ayres spent the previous season in the NBA D-League, playing for the Los Angeles D-Fenders, the L.A. Lakers affiliate. He averaged 16.2 points, 9.5 rebounds and 2.2 assists.

With Joel Freeland sidelined indefinitely, this move allows for ample rotation in the team’s frontline.
