The first title of the new season in Italy goes to the hands of the reigning champs. With an exhilarating performance by Krunoslav Simon, Olimpia Milano downed Sigidas Avellino 90 – 72 to win the Italian Supercup.

The Croatian swingman handled the offensive responsibilities for his team beautifully, finishing the game with 25 points and 8 assists. A well deserved MVP of the whole tournament.

Ricky Hickman (15 points) and Zoran Dragic (11 points, 7 rebounds) provided a bunch of important helps to Milano on both ends of the court.

With 18 points (but also a 6/17 from the field) Joe Ragland was the top scorer of Avellino. Retin Obasohan added 11 plus 5 rebound

“The Red Shoes” were superior throughout the whole game, establishing a double-digit lead at halftime (44 – 34).  But it was in the third quarter where they absolutely imposed their rule when a 16-3 partial score made it 63 – 42.

The qualitative difference between the two teams didn’t allow Avellino to come back from such a deficit and paced Milano more than safely to victory and the Supercup trophy.
