The ongoing saga of the Rockets and Donatas Motiejunas took an other turn today. According to ESPN the $4.4 million qualifying offer the Rockets sent him has expired and the Lithuanian big man remains a restricted free agent.

As Calvin Watkins reports: “Motiejunas remains a restricted free agent and he can still sign a contract with the team at an undetermined amount. The two sides did speak on Saturday according to a source but a deal wasn’t reached”.

However it’s obvious that the situation is at a standstill with the team not willing to pay him more and the player not wanting to take the $4,4 million offer. With no other NBA teams willing to make an offer to Motiejunas, the scenario of him playing one year in Europe or in China does not seem that far fetched at this point.
