Basketball Champions League teams continue their preparations in view of the new season and Eurohoops picked out the top 12+2 transfers that have been made so far

The BCL continues to grow and improve, while at the same time, the organization of FIBA ​​has been a great opportunity for many players, who through it rose to the occasion, were able to shine and take the next step in their careers.

Expect to see such cases in the 2020-21 season as well, with the teams already starting to build their rosters, in order to appear as strong as possible in view of their competitive obligations.

With the end of this past season and the start of the new one approaching, the teams, as mentioned above, moved in the transfer market and strengthened significantly. With that in mind, Eurohoops searched and picked out twelve transfer moves that can raise the level of their teams at the beginning of the action.

Sean Kilpatrick

When a player has experience from the NBA as well as Euroleague, then it means he can become invaluable for any team. One such case is Sean Kilpatrick for Tofas.

The American, after half a season in Greece and Panathinaikos, but also an entire one in Buducnost, is preparing for the new challenge of his career, moving to Tofas and Turkey, with the intention of raising the level of the club.

Last season, the 30-year-old averaged 9.1 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1.8 assists in the ABA League and 16.5 points, 2.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists in the EuroCup.

Michael Eric

He may not have had his best season with Baskonia, but the quality of Michael Eric is a given and the 32-year-old Nigerian can make the biggest contribution to a good course for Turk Telekom.

Eric, who also played for AEK and Panelefsiniakos, had the best season of his career the last time he played in Turkey. While wearing Darussafaka’s jersey, he averaged 11.1 points and five rebounds (and almost one block) in the Euroleague.

Last season with Baskonia, he logged 5.7 points and 2.7 rebounds in an average of 15 minutes.

Aaron Doornekamp

Aaron Doornekamp joined up forces with Tenerife for the second time in his career looking to repeat the success of the last one.

The experienced ace, after three years in Valencia, returns to the team of Txus Vidorreta, with which, in 2017, he had celebrated the BCL title and he will without a doubt be a valuable addition for the Spaniards.

The 34-year-old averaged 4.9 points and 2.3 rebounds in Euroleague and 5.5 points and 2.6 rebounds in ACB.

Jaromir Bohacik

Jaromir Bohacik has plenty of experience in the Basketball Champions League and will be very important for Strasbourg’s game.

He is an excellent shooter, among the best in BCL, and the French team will be significantly strengthened in its offensive game thanks to it.

This past season in the Czech Republic, he averaged 15.6 points on 52% from the three-point territory while adding 3.7 assists, 3.3 rebounds and one steal.

Yanick Moreira

For another year, Yannick Moreira will play in Greece as he moved to AEK after the excellent season he had with Peristeri.

The 29-year-old Angolan center last season played for Peristeri, averaging 12.5 points with 6.7 rebounds in the Greek League while in the BCL, he averaged 12.9 points with 6.7 rebounds.

Giannis Athinaiou has been through a tough period this past year as, due to injuries, he didn’t step on the court at all and never managed to wear the Panathinaikos jersey in an official match.

Nonetheless, it is a great addition for Peristeri, as the 32-year-old is a player with tremendous experience and talent, who can lead Peristeri one step further than last season.

Mario Nakic

Mario Nakic is only 19 years old, but he is considered a great talent and he has found a great environment to improve and show off his skills, as Oostende has been known for its work with prospects.

Real, which believes a lot in the young forward, had a specific plan and sent him to the Belgian team in order to grow and return ready to Madrid in 2022, having experienced the BCL.

Nakic is essentially a product of Real’s academy, where he belongs since 14 years old, and where he showed excellent performances in the U18 ANGT tournaments of the Euroleague. In 2019, he was the MVP and in the final, he broke the records with 33 points and 41 index rating.

Tyler Cavanaugh

The 26-year-old forward averaged 9.2 points (with 41.4% on three-pointers), 4.1 rebounds and 1.7 assists in the German League last season while in Euroleague, he averaged 6.4 points and 3.3 rebounds.

Alex Renfroe

Burgos completed a really great transfer with the addition of Alex Renfroe for the upcoming season.

The 34-year-old had an important role at Zenit last season, he knows the Spanish championship very well and with his experience and quality he can take Burgos to a whole new level.

He averaged five points, 4.6 assists and 1.7 rebounds in Euroleague with but with a number of clutch performances as well.

Sam Dekker

When Lokomotiv Kuban announced the addition of the active NBA player Sam Dekker, many in European basketball were impressed, since he was a player who made good appearances with the Houston Rockets.

During his first season in Europe, Dekker didn’t take long to adapt and played great basketball. He will, without a doubt, have a leading role on the Turk Telekom roster and they will most certainly be among the favorites to go all the way.

Last season in the VTB League with Lokomotiv Kuban, the American forward averaged 11.3 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1.5 assists.

Alex Hamilton

Galatasaray may have lost Aaron Harrison who was one of its main scorers, however, Alex Hamilton should prove to be more than an adequate replacement.

The 27-year-old guard is excellent offensively and could be the next leader of coach Ertugrul Erdogan’s squad as his contribution to the game is not limited to just scoring.

Last season, he averaged 15.8 points, 4.7 rebounds and 4.8 assists in the Israeli League while in Eurocup, he logged 15.8 points, four rebounds and 5.3 assists per game.

Tyler Ennis

Tyler Ennis has been unquestionably unlucky for the last two years, since in the summer of 2018, when he decided to come to Europe and join Zeljko Obradovic‘s Fenerbahce, many believed that he would transform the team with his competitive characteristics and quality.

However, a serious injury knocked him out for almost the whole year and he returned to the USA to play in the G-League in order to find himself again. Now, Ennis has decided to return to Europe and join Turk Telekom which has been very active and successful in making its squad for the next season, which should be aiming for nothing less than the top.

Andrew Goudelock

Despite going through plenty of injuries in the past few years, Andrew Goudelock remains one of the most charismatic guards to have ever played in the Old Continent, with his transfer to Rytas Vilnius stirring up interest.

The Lithuanian team adds experience, quality and long-range shooting with Goudelock, and, provided he stays in full form, he can be the player to make the difference in the team.

During the 2019-20 season, the 31-year-old played for Venezia, where he averaged 6.3 points in just three EuroCup games.

Brock Motum

Brock Motum returns to Turkey after spending a season with Valencia, after signing a 1+1 deal with Galatasaray.

Motum is a modern-day power forward, with reliable long-range shooting and plenty of experience that is expected to lift coach Erdogan’s team with his quality both in the domestic league and BCL.

He last played for Valencia during the 2019-20 season, with which he averaged 6.2 points per EuroLeague contest.
