Pinar Karsiyaka left its heart on the floor to reach the Basketball Champions League semifinals for the first time in the club’s history, after beating ERA Nymburk 84-73 on Wednesday, at the Final Eight tournament in Nizhny Novgorod. Karsiyaka has just returned to the competition this season, after two runs in the FIBA Europe Cup.

After what looked like a “Russian roulette” in the fourth quarter with no team able to sustain a lead, Sek Henry spoke game for Karsiyaka to give his team a five-point lead with less than two minutes to play and finished with a key performance of 19 points and 5 rebounds.

Karsiyaka’s great team effort was further paced by Raymar Morgan posted a double-double with 18 points and 16 rebounds, Amath M’Baye who had a massive contribution in the fourth quarter with 20 points, and Metecan Birsen who had 12 points and 13 rebounds.

Morgan stole the show and he is of course ready for the next challenge, facing Zaragoza in the semifinals.

Hayden Dalton led the way for Nymburk with 14 points and Vojtech Hruban posted 12, while Stephen Zimmermann followed with 11 points and 7 rebounds and Retin Obasohan dropped 10 points for the Czech side.

Hruban talked about his team which was part of the Basketball Champions League Final 8 for the second straight season.

Karsiyaka will face Casademont Zaragoza in the first semifinal on Friday, after the Spanish side beat Nizhny Novgorod earlier on Wednesday to advance.
