Treviso, Cluj Napoca, Kalev/Cramo advance to BCL regular season

The Basketball Champions League regular season welcomed three additions after the first Finals of the Qualifiers.

Italian Nutribullet Treviso, Romanian Cluj Napoca and Estonian Kalev/Cramo became the first three teams to move from the 2021-22 Basketball Champions League Qualifiers to the regular season.

Tomas Dimsa pushed Treviso to a 95 – 78 over Tsmoki Minsk by scoring 26 points on six 3-pointers. Nicola Akele joined the 3-point party with five triples of his own and 17 points overall. Henry Sims added 16 points plus nine rebounds.

Their team will play against AEK Athens, Falco Szombathely and VEF Riga in Group D of the regular season.

For Minsk, Angelo Warner came close to a triple-double with 25 points, nine rebounds and eight assists.

Cluj edged Fribourg Olympic 77 – 64 behind 17 points by Karel Guzman and 16 points from Patrick Richard. Elijah Steward scored 13 while Andrija Stipanovic had a diverse contribution of 10 points, nine rebounds and seven assists.

Darussafaka Tekfen, Happy Casa Brindisi and Hapoel U-net Holon are already in Group G waiting for Cluj.

Only Arnaud Cotture (14 points) scored in double figures for Fribourg.

 

JeQuan Lewis scored 24 points and dished out six assists as Kalev defeated Juventus 86 – 81. Patrick Miller’s efforts (25 points) weren’t enough for the Lithuanian side.

Kamari Murphy had 14 points and nine rebounds and Kristjan Kitsing scored 10 for Kalev that will face Filou Oostende, Strasbourg and Tofas Bursa in Group F.
