Treviso used a strong fourth quarter against Lavrio to take the first step forward in their best-of-three series for the Basketball Champions League play-ins

Nutribullet Treviso got a headstart into the best-of-three series against Lavrio for the Basketball Champions League play-ins with an 87-62 victory in Game 1 at home on Wednesday.

Treviso remained in charge in the first half, leading the race 44-36 at halftime, and despite the efforts of the Greek side to restore some ground after the break, the hosts kept their double-digit lead all the way through the fourth quarter. The margin even reached 20 points in favor of the Italians in the last four minutes.

Henry Sims led the efforts of Massimiliano Menetti’s squad with 22 points and 8 rebounds, Tomas Dimsa followed with 19 points and DeWayne Russell added 18 points and 8 assists.

Jerry Smith and Corey Sanders had 17 points each to pace Lavrio, while Matt Williams and Vassilis Mouratos posted 12 points apiece and Dimitrios Kaklamankakis had 10 points and 8 rebounds.

Game 2 of their play-in series takes place January 18, with Lavrio looking to even the score at home.
