Surne Bilbao Basket keeps on being one of the most exciting teams to watch in the Basketball Champions League landscape, as proved by beating Bahcesehir 80-66.

Ludvig Hakanson, who scored more points in his last BCL game (16 p.) than in his entire 2020/21 season in the league with Bilbao (13 p.), has been the most impressive player on Jaume Ponsarnau’s team. He went close to a double-double with 11 points and 9 assists.

The Swedish player was joined by Adam Smith, who ended the game with 17 points, and Alex Reyes, who had 12 points. Both of them came off the bench.

After getting the three-point winning shot against Igokea, Jamar Smith had 12 points in Bahcesehir’s loss. Yigit Arslan was the top-scorer on the losing side, as he ended the game with 15 points.

Jerry Boutsiele, who had grabbed 10+ rebounds in four of his seven games in the BCL before this encounter, had a good all-around performance of 12 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists.

Bahcesehir didn’t manage to become the fifth Turkish team that won its first two games in the competition. Teams from Turkey have now lost 21 of their 24 away games against the Spanish sides.

Bilbao, who played its third game in the Basketball Champions League against a Turkish team, is now up 2-0 in Group D. Bahcesehir joins Igokea at 1-1 after the win by the Bosnian team against ERA Nymburk.
