Sixth win in a row between the Basketball Champions League and Spain’s Liga Endesa, Lenovo Tenerife made short work of Darussafaka Lassa, 80-59, in a convincing display on the road Wednesday.

Finnish sharpshooter Sasu Salin connected five threes for a game-high 17 points in the Gameday 2 contest of the Round of 16. His total bested Selcuk Ernak’s players ending up with two makes in 21 attempts from beyond the arc.

Making history early in the first half, Marcelo Huertas fittingly became the first player with 400 assists in the Champions League. Ten dimes in Volkswagen Arena upped his career total to 407. The Brazilian guard, a former player of the Los Angeles Lakers, also produced nine points over 23 minutes.

Georgian center Giorgi Shermadini and reigning EuroBasket champion with Spain Jaime Fernandez chipped in 16 more points each for the defending BCL champions. At the losing end, Markel Starks went for 18 points and captain Dogus Ozdemiroglu registered 12 points.

Besides the impressive 14-4 tally in the top-tier division of Spain, arguably the strongest domestic league in Europe, Txus Vidorreta’s side now leads Group L at 2-0, by suffocating and forcing Dacka to 0-2. Two more ACB participants, UCAM Murcia and Surne Bilbao are tied at 1-1 after the direct encounter Tuesday.

Dealing with a double-digit deficit from the first half and struggling to sneak through the defense, the Istanbul outfit settled for a fourth straight loss in all competitions, after dropping to 8-9 in Turkey’s BSL.
