Dylan Ennis has always been an intriguing figure on social media, and the latest thread he posted on Twitter proves it once more. The American player shared 10 pieces of advice to overseas professional athletes after 6 years of professional basketball overseas, in 5 different countries.

Among the things he advised, he stated that signing with a team that wants you is essential. “When signing a contract, don’t go somewhere just because of the name/perception. Sign to a team that wants you for you! Also, reach out to the team’s current/former players. Ask questions! The most vital information comes from the players”, he said starting the thread.

The current Galatasaray shooting guard also talked about leaving the comfort zone. “Some athletes only leave their house for practices/games. NO! Go experience things. Meet and talk to people outside your team. It’ll help you understand how other cultures live. I know it may be out of your comfort zone, but it’s worth it!”, Ennis added.

The 31-year-old, whose brother Tyler also plays in Europe with Tofas Bursa, finally talked about the reason overseas athletes are here. “Your “job” is to play a sport you love while traveling the world. Not saying it’s easy, but when you think about it, you’re living the dream that the younger you would be proud of. Your career won’t last forever, so make the most out of it!”, he stated.

The Canadian shooting guard was inspired by Tomasz Gielo, who also posted a quite interesting thread on his Twitter profile titled “What I wish I knew as a 20-year-old basketball player that I know now at 30”.
