Building on sporadic appearances with Unicaja at the senior level since 2021, Mario Saint-Supery inked a new five-year deal, his first professional contract, to continue his development with the team based in Malaga.

Unicaja made the announcement on Wednesday.

Per the press release: “The Malaga youth player signs his first professional contract with Unicaja for the next 5 seasons and will continue his development in the Malaga club.”

Saint-Supery, 17, logged four games played in the Basketball Champions League and 12 in Spain’s Liga Endesa over the 2022-23 and 2021-22 campaigns. In 2023-24, he is projected to become a full-time member of the senior squad.

The highlight of his young career stems from the 2022 FIBA U16 European Championship. Averaging 21.9 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 4.1 assists per game, the exciting prospect was named MVP of the tournament as Spain ranked second behind Lithuania. Contributing 9.9 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per contest, another silver medal at the junior level followed this summer in the 2023 FIBA U18 European Championship.

Keeping most of the players from the 2022-23 roster, the team coached by Ibon Navarro already confirmed Jonathan Barreiro, Tyson Carter, Alberto Diaz, Nihad Djedovic, Melvin Ejim, Tyler Kalinoski, David Kravish, Augusto Lima, Dylan Osetkowski, Kendrick Perry, Yankuba Sima, Kameron Taylor, and Will Thomas en route to the 2023-24 editions of the Champions League and domestic competitions. Also, Ilimane Diop signed a six-week contract to come in as injury relief for Sima.
