Stopping the final possession handed Promitheas a narrow win versus UCAM Murcia.

The Patras outfit banked in a 79-78 victory in Dimitris Tofalos Arena on Tuesday.

A go-ahead midrange jumper by Hunter Hale was followed up with a game-winning defensive effort, forcing out the offense of the Universitarios. The outcome matched up both sides at 3-1 in Group L of the Basketball Champions League Round of 16.

Team captain Anthony Cowan Jr. poured in nine of his game-high 22 points in the fourth quarter of the Gameday 4 contest. Tucking in 7/7 two-pointers and 3/3 free throws, Jaime Echenique finished with 17 points. Hale ended up with 14 points. George Papas was among the players left out of the lineup.

Staying in Greece the rest of the way, the team coached by Ilias Papatheodorou hosts Hapoel Holon next week and wraps up by visiting AEK Betsson in Gameday 6. Carrying an 11-8 record and tied for fourth in the Stoiximan Basket League Regular Season, the Queen is the next domestic opponent on Saturday.

Returning to Spain’s Liga Endesa, the team located in southeastern Spain welcomes Girona in Palacio de Deportes on Saturday. Aiming to jump to 15-9 in the domestic league is the immediate challenge, before hosting AEK next week.

In an eight-game winning streak in the BCL snapped in Greece, Dustin Sleva recorded a team-high 19 points. Swedish teammates Ludvig Hakanson and Simon Birgander remained on the injury list.
