The 5th consecutive year in the Basketball Champions League has to be the right one, as they finally managed to clinch a spot in this year’s Final Four after never making it to the Quarter-Finals before.
Despite losing both encounters against ERA Nymburk during the Regular Season, Yakup Sekizkok’s team learned from their mistakes by sweeping the Czech champions in their best-of-three series.
After winning by 26 points (106-80) in Game 1 on the road, they completed the task moving back at home in Istanbul, getting the upper hand 90-74 in Game 2.
James Palmer Jr., who was awarded as MVP of the Round of 16 in the pregame, was one of the best players scoring-wise for Galatasaray, putting up 24 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists. Will Cummings (17 points and 5 assists) helped too.
One of the best surprises of the season, ERA Nymburk, couldn’t succeed and return to the old glory days, fighting for the big prize. Christian Bishop had a losing effort of 8 points and 12 rebounds.
Galatasaray will now wait for whoever comes out on top in the remaining three series. Right now, Unicaja, Tenerife, and AEK are ahead 1-0 respectively over Reggiana, Derthona, and Nanterre.
