ALBA Berlin secured the services of Jack Kayil for the 2025-26 season. Mega Superbet loaned the 19-year-old combo guard to the German club.
The deal was announced on Wednesday.
The Berlin native went from a promising youth product of the Albatrosse to starting his professional career with RASTA Vechta II in the second-tier division of Germany during the 2023-24 campaign. In 2024-25, he joined Mega and averaged 7.7 points, 2.8 assists, 2.2 rebounds, 1.4 steals, and 0.2 blocks per contest over 18 appearances in the AdmiralBet ABA League.
“I’m really looking forward to the upcoming season, not only because I can do what I love again, playing basketball, but also because I get to do it in my hometown, surrounded by family and friends. I’m happy to be back at ALBA, back in a familiar and supportive environment,” the youngster welcomed his return, “I hope that we, as a team, as a club, and I personally as a player, will grow together and celebrate success.”
Following a successful youth career with Germany, he was upgraded to the senior national team and earned two caps in the FIBA EuroBasket 2025 Qualifiers.
“We are delighted that Jack has found his way back to ALBA,” sports director Himar Ojeda commented on bringing back Kayil, “Looking back, it would certainly have been exciting to follow his development over the past two years in our program, especially because we are convinced that he could have gained valuable playing experience with the pros early on. It is all the more pleasing that he has now decided to take this step. We are convinced that he is an excellent fit for us and want to help him further develop his great potential.”
The 2025-26 season will feature the Berlin outfit in the Basketball Champions League, beyond domestic competitions in Germany.
