Another team from the EuroLeague ecosystem is switching competitions.
After ALBA Berlin left the EuroLeague to join the Basketball Champions League, Dreamland Gran Canaria has announced it will follow suit, leaving the BKT EuroCup to play in the competition organized by FIBA.
Official statement from Dreamland Gran Canaria:
“Dreamland Gran Canaria officially registered for the FIBA Champions League for the 2025/26 season on Friday, June 13. The club completed all the required procedures for the registration of its first team.
The FIBA Champions League was officially launched in March 2016, so the 2025/26 edition will be the tenth season. Last May, Unicaja defeated Turkish club Galatasaray in the final to win their second consecutive trophy. With a strong ecosystem and a steadily rising level, this tournament has attracted better and more ambitious sports projects from all over Europe over the years. The upcoming season will include teams like ALBA Berlin, a regular participant in the EuroLeague in recent years; Joventut, a historic club in national and European basketball; and the current EuroCup runner-up.”
As announced on FIBA’s official website, the full list of participating teams for the 2025/26 Champions League will be published next week.
