Mario Fioretti penned a two-year contract to become the new head coach of Bertram Derthona Tortona.

The deal was officially announced on Monday.

Fioretti, 51, is coming off 22 years with EA7 Emporio Armani Milan and, over recent years, worked under head coach Ettore Messina. His efforts went into winning five domestic league championships, four Italian Cups, and five Supercups, in addition to reaching the EuroLeague Final Four in 2021.

Beyond the long stay with Olimpia Milano, his career additionally features a six-year spell as a member of the coaching staff of the senior national team of Italy.

The native of Bergamo previously worked with several youth teams in his hometown and moved to the United States to join Indiana as an assistant under the late Bobby Knight. After one NCAA season one year, he launched his run with Milan.

The next challenge for Fioretti shifts into a head-coaching role with the next season likely extending from the domestic competitions to a third straight Tortona participation in the Basketball Champions League.

In the 2024-25 journey, the team based in northern Italy advanced to the Quarterfinals of the BCL. At the domestic level, it ranked ninth in the league after earning a berth in the midseason Frecciarossa Final Eight.
