After playing for Barcelona, Fuenlabrada, Breogán, Bilbao Basket, La Laguna Tenerife, and Casademont Zaragoza, Emir Sulejmanovic got a three-year deal with Basketball Champions League back-to-back winners Unicaja Malaga.

Per the press release: “Emir Sulejmanovic has been chosen to strengthen Unicaja‘s inside game for next season. The Bosnian international comes from Casademont Zaragoza, where he was the top rebounder in the Endesa League last season (7.2 rebounds). Sulejmanovic stands out for his ability to play both inside positions and, in addition, has training quota status in the BCL due to his experience in the FC Barcelona youth system. Sulejmanovic signs a two-year contract with an optional one.

Unicaja has a new player for its center forward. The Malaga club has reached an agreement with Emir Sulejmanovic, a 29-year-old, 2.05m power forward, for the next two seasons and an optional additional one.

Emir Sulejmanovic played last season for Casademont Zaragoza, where he finished as the Liga Endesa’s leading rebounder with 7.2 rebounds per game. He added 13.7 points on average, with a 41.8% 3-point shooting percentage and an average PIR of 15.7. Sulejmanovic excels at playing both inside positions due to his quality, with the ability to run the court and provide energy for the team.

Sulejmanovic holds an EU player license in the Endesa League, but in the BCL, due to his past in the FC Barcelona youth system, he counts as a homegrown player. He even played two Euroleague games with the Blaugrana first team in the 2014-15 season. At 29 years old, Sulejmanovic is a familiar name in the national competition, where he has already played for five teams since the 2017-18 season (Fuenlabrada, Breogán, Bilbao Basket, La Laguna Tenerife, and Casademont Zaragoza).

Emir Sulejmanovic also has experience in the BCL, a European competition where he has played for Cibona Zagreb, Surne Bilbao, and La Laguna Tenerife. It was with the Tenerife team that he won the BCL in 2022″.
