Valerio Antonini, team president of Trapani Shark, announced the signing of Ryan Arcidiacono.
During a recent press conference, he projected a big move in the plan to replace departing Justin Robinson, noting that the 27-year-old point guard will pay $ 150,000 to exit his contract and join EuroLeague outfit Paris. Arcidiacono was revealed as the arrival on Tuesday morning.
The former NCAA champion with Villanova as the Most Outstanding Player of the Final Four 2016 will expand his career to Europe, combining domestic competitions in Italy with the Basketball Champions League. Family links to Italy and specifically Sicily, shape a homecoming, despite being unable to formally get Italian citizenship and become eligible for the national team, earlier in his career.
The 31-year-old combo guard is a veteran of 257 NBA games, spread between the Chicago Bulls, New York Knicks, and Portland Trail Blazers. He went undrafted in 2016 but signed a two-way contract with the Bulls in 2017 to launch a lengthy stay with the organization, after one year in the G League with the Austin Spurs. Briefer stints with the Knicks and Blazers led up to his last NBA appearance in early 2024. With the Windy City Bulls through the 2024-25 campaign, he tallied 8.3 points, 3.3 assists, 2.8 rebounds, 1.1 steals, and 0.3 blocks per contest over 24 G League contests.
Entering European club competitions and the BCL, Trapani was recently drawn into Group D of the 2024-25 Regular Season, alongside La Laguna Tenerife, Tofas, and Bnei PenLink Herzliya.
