Lukas Lekavicius was announced as the latest newcomer for AEK, heading to the 2025-26 edition of the Basketball Champions League.
“I am here,” mentioned the 31-year-old point guard in Greek, in a video shared on the team Facebook account on Monday.
Lekavicius will introduce himself to the BCL, following his return to Greece after a spell with Panathinaikos between 2017 and 2019.
Besides the Greens in his previous stop in Greece, the Silale native spent the rest of his career as a member of Zalgiris, recording 243 out of his 307 appearances in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague and winning multiple domestic titles, including six Betsafe LKL championships. During his stint with the fellow Athens outfit, he was crowned Basket League champion in 2018 and 2019, and also won the Cup in 2019. His international career with Lithuania is headlined a silver medal in EuroBasket 2015, in his senior debut.
Former teammate at Zalgiris and at the international level, Mindaugas Kuzminskas is among the returning players for the Queen. Others confirmed on the 2025-26 roster for head coach Dragan Sakota are Adonis Arms, Nikos Arsenopoulos, Frank Bartley IV, Vassilis Charalampopoulos, Dimitris Flionis, Raiquan Gray, Dimitris Katsivelis, Marko Pecarski, Chris Silva, and Gaios Skordilis.
Among the candidates to join AEK, alongside VEF Riga and NHSZ-Szolnoki Olajbanyasz in Group F via the Qualification Rounds, back-to-back champion of the Bulgarian League, Rilski Sportist welcomed two new players in 24-year-old Jalen Thomas on Sunday and 28-year-old Mike Edwards on Monday.
