Freddie Gillespie powers up Galatasaray, Daniel Relvao re-signs with Benfica

Before starting the 2025-26 journey in the Basketball Champions League, Galatasaray MCT Technic, Benfica and Hapoel Netanel Holon reinforce the paint

Galatasaray MCT Technic secured the services of 28-year-old center Freddie Gillespie for the next season. From 82 appearances in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague with EA7 Emporio Armani Milan, FC Bayern Munich, and Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet over the last three years, he moved to the Basketball Champions League. Before using overseas options, Gillespie also registered 29 games played in the NBA, spread between the Toronto Raptors and Orlando Magic.

Heading to Group E of the Regular Season, alongside Igokea m:tel, Fitness First Wurzburg, and Trieste, his new teammates are Yaman Alisan, Christian Bishop, Will Cummings, Cihat Dalgali, Kerem Erdem, Tibet Gorener, Can Korkmaz, Errick McCollum, John Meeks, Ridvan Oncel, James Palmer Jr., Jerome Robinson, Efe Sekeroglu, Yigit Tekin, Bugrahan Tuncer, Fabian White Jr., and Mushin Yasar under the guidance of head coach Yakub Sekizkok.

In Group H with Dreamland Gran Canaria, Le Mans, and Spartak Office Shoes, Benfica extended the contract of 29-year-old Daniel Relvao until the end of the 2026-27 season. Fresh off representing Portugal in EuroBasket 2025, the experienced big is set to add to his current tally of 17 games played in the top-tier club continental competition of FIBA Europe.

Meanwhile, ALBA Berlin completed the 2025-26 squad with Bennet Hundt. After returning to his parent club during the preseason, the 27-year-old point guard signed a one-year contract. Carrying the experience of 18 BCL appearances with EWE Baskets Oldenburg and Brose Bamberg, he will play in Group B versus ERA Nymburk, Sabah, and one more team from the Qualification Tournaments.

Nysier Brooks to Hapoel Holon

With Hassan Martin on the injury list, Hapoel Netanel Holon announced a deal with 28-year-old center Nysier Brooks, a veteran of 17 Champions League games between SIG Strasbourg and VEF Riga. Danny Franco’s team is in Group C with Joventut Badalona and Cholet, with one more opponent from the ongoing Qualifiers in Samokov.

On the way to Group D with La Laguna Tenerife, Tofas, and Trapani Shark, fellow Israeli side Bnei PenLink Herzliya signed 23-year-old Noam Fox to a 1+1 contract.

Legia Warszawa, preparing for Group A versus Rytas, Promitheas Vikos Cola, and MLP Academics Heidelberg, inked 28-year-old Carl Ponsar to a two-month contract.
