Wurzburg achieved a significant victory in the fifth round match of Group E in the Basketball Champions League by defeating Igokea away with a score of 85-56.
Marcus Carr played an excellent game for the visitors, finishing with a double-double of 19 points and 10 assists. David Muenkat added 16 points, while Davion Mintz scored 13.
On the other hand, Igokea had a poor performance, with Jevon Bess leading their scoring with 15 points.
The hosts started the game better, holding the lead for most of the first quarter, but then fell apart. The Germans took control, already leading by 17 points at halftime (46-29), and confirmed their victory with an even stronger second half—allowing only 27 points.
With this triumph, Wurzburg secured their advancement, and whether they finish second or third will be decided after the last round when they visit Trieste. The Germans now have a 3-2 record, while the Italians are at 2-3. Meanwhile, Igokea stands at 1-4, so their final game will have no impact on the standings as they have finished fourth in the group.
