Bnei Herzliya recorded its first win of the season in the FIBA Basketball Champions League after beating Tofas 82–81 in fifth round of group D, in Opava, where the game was played.
The crazy ending in the Czech Republic was decided by Elijah Stewart, who scored at the buzzer to give the Israelis the victory.
Before that, Furkan Korkmaz missed a free throw with eight seconds remaining, the “hosts” secured the rebound, and the American crowned his strong performance in style.
He led Herzliya with 19 points, Daeshon Francis added 18, while Denver Jones contributed with 11 points. On the other side, Yigitcan Saybir scored 28 points and Furkan Korkmaz finished the game with 14.
Bnei Herzliya is now 1–4, but despite the win has been eliminated from the competition. In the final round they will host Tenerife.
Tofaş, for its part, has secured a place in the play-in despite the loss, and in the last round will face Trapani in Bursa.
