Alex Chassang is back in the Basketball Champions League, four years after his last appearance. Joining the action in Season X, powered by Ameresco SUNEL, he will power up Mersin Spor.
His addition was announced by the Turkish club on Tuesday, shortly after securing the second seed in Group G of the Regular Season with a win against Karditsa Iaponiki in Giannis Bourousis Karditsa Municipal Indoor Sports Hall.
Earning homecourt advantage in a second opportunity to qualify for the Round of 16, Mersin will face Le Mans or Benfica in January, after completing the six-game regular-season schedule next Wednesday, December 17, against Filou Oostende in Servet Tazegul Arena.

The 31-year-old forward/center previously displayed his talents in the Champions League with JDA Dijon, logging 40 appearances between 2018 and 2021, including a third-place finish in the 2019-20 season. Beyond the top-tier club continental competition of FIBA Europe, he is a veteran of 53 7DAYS EuroCup games and 11 FIBA Europe Cup games.
Since parting ways with La Jeanne, he had a brief stint in Turkiye with Semt77 Yalovaspor early in his 2021-22 journey. Returning to his home country of France, he suited up for JL Bourg and Limoges CSP over the next four years. However, he was stuck in the free-agent market from the top of the 2025-26 season.
Beyond the club level, the native of Paris represented France in the Qualifiers of the 2019 and 2023 installments of the FIBA World Cup, and in the Qualifiers of the EuroBasket 2022. He previously made his way to the U20 European Championship in 2013 and 2014, the U18 European Championship in 2012, and the U16 European Championship in 2010.
Earlier Tuesday, Jason George signed a contract until the end of the 2027-28 season with fellow BCL outfit, Fitness First Wurzburg, en route to a return to top-level competition after a two-year NADA suspension. Starting his next assignment, the 24-year-old winger will play in the third-tier division of Germany, as noted in the team’s announcement.
