Despite finishing the BCL regular season as group leader, the Istanbul club announces a coaching change following a domestic league loss

Galatasaray MCT Technic had secured a place in the Basketball Champions League Round of 16 after finishing the regular season as group leader. However, the club announced a major change on Tuesday, confirming the departure of head coach Yakup Sekizkök.

Turkish team officially stated that it has parted ways with Sekizkök, who had been in charge of the team since February 2024.

The decision comes shortly after the yellow-and-red side suffered an 89–101 home defeat to Trabzonspor in the Turkish Basketball Super League over the weekend.

In its official statement, the club highlighted Sekizkök’s contributions during his tenure, including leading Galatasaray to its first-ever appearance in the FIBA Basketball Champions League final.

Galatasaray thanked him for his efforts and wished him success in the next chapter of his coaching career.
