Trapani Sharks have bite off more than they can chew and the future of the club is a huge questionmark.
As it’s officially announced, the upcoming game of the Italian league between the Sicilian club and Virtus Bologna will not be played and that creates doubts about the club’s participation in the upcoming play-in games for the Basketball Champions League against Hapoel Netanel Holon.
This turn of events is a result of the recent hearing at the Federal Court of the the Italian Basketball Federation (FIP) with the club having financial troubles. The case is not closed yet, as club president Valerio Antonini will have to appear on a court of law on the 7th of January for pending payments and tax issues.
Trapani is already punished with -8 points in the Lega Basket Seria A standings and there are reports and rumors for many of its top players leaving the team.
At this point, even the relegation from the Italian top division can’t be excluded.
