Trieste achieved a surprising victory in the opening of Group L in the Round of 16 phase of the BCL, defeating Gran Canaria away with a score of 77-71.
Jahmi’us Ramsey was the top scorer for his team as usual with 21 points, Markel Brown added 14, while Juan Toscano-Anderson had 11 points and six assists.
For the home team, only Pierre Pelos with 19 and Kassius Robertson with 11 points reached double figures.
Trieste was on the brink of elimination in the Play-in, saved by Jeff Brooks’ points in the final second against Szolnoki Olaj, and now the Italians have surprised the Spanish team on their home court.
Most of the match was a close battle, with the teams trading leads multiple times, and the decision came in the very finish. However, Trieste was better there, as the visitors surely executed free throws, ultimately securing an important win in the opening of this phase.
In the other Group L match, Tenerife easily defeated Nymburk at home (104-80). In the next round, Trieste will again travel to Spain, this time to face Tenerife, while Gran Canaria will visit Nymburk.
